If we are unable to stop the nominee, one can safely say that it becomes probable that one of the 5 current justices who support Roe vs. Wade and Obergefell will die, and be replaced with a Justice who will overturn both decision.
Taking the Senate given the seats at play in 2018 will be difficult. This means:
1. Either we show we are able to block far right nominees even though we do not hold the Senate OR
2. We are able to harness the movement unleashed since Trump’s inauguration to re-take the Senate in 2018.
Failing either of these 2, we are likely to see the Civil Rights of millions of people lost to a far right Supreme Court.
The stakes could hardly be higher.
