There is nothing so sweet as when the bully gets his just rewards. There is an entire of genre of movies about it, from Pulp Fiction (my personal favorite, when Marsellus gets “medievil” on the redkneck who rapes him) and Glourious Basterds to Walking Tall.
But those are movies, and this is real life. And the best thing is some of the best is coming from the right. So Red State notes Rick Wilson said: “Trump supporters are single childless men who masturbate to anime". Red State’s own Ben Howe said
"I view him as a less ethical David Duke," said Howe. "His idea of minority outreach is to stop calling people 'colored' and tweet pictures of taco bowls."
The National Review’s corner looked at Trump’s response to Kahn and concluded:
What is amazing is how the Trump and his surrogates can take any bad situation and find an innovative, groundbreaking way to make it worse… day, after day, after dayCan’t leave the Weekly Standard out. Christopher Hayes lists the lies since Trump has won the nomination and writes:
Trump has been more volatile, more bizarre, more mendacious, and more reckless. In the time since he accepted the nomination Trump has, among other things: revived a crackpot theory on Ted Cruz's father and the JFK assassination; suggested his adopted party is filled with people who don't want to help others; invited Russia to influence the U.S. presidential election; smeared the parents of a fallen U.S. Army captain; trashed a retired four-star general; and appeared not to know that Russia had annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2014.
Hayes goes on the write a detailed list of lies Trump has said in the last 10 days.
So this is all good fun.
But there is a serious point lurking. Trump’s racist appeal did not come out of nowhere. It is the product of years of appeals to racial bigotry. It is ironic to read about a lying politician in the Weekly Standard when one considers the lies they advanced in support of the Iraq War.
So they complain about Trump, but he is very much their creation.
And that isn’t funny.
