JFK speech arguing for Single Payer

We forget sometimes how far right the Party has moved on some things.  JFK was no socialist.  Yet it would have been inconceivable to him that a Democrat would argue against single-payer. 

I truly wonder what Medicare would look like if the Democratic Party of the last 20 years had been in charge when it was passed.  It would have almost certainly been some sort of voucher system.
